Collaboration announced to help farmers who plant Enlist E3 soybeans tackle tough, broadleaf weeds while helping to sustain the long-term efficacy of both herbicides

CALGARY, ALBERTA, May 12, 2021 – Corteva Agriscience and BASF Canada Agricultural Solutions (BASF) have announced their collaboration and joint approach of weed control by recommending the combined use of Liberty® 200 SN and Enlist 1® herbicides on Enlist E3 soybean acres. The companies share the commitment to Canadian soybean growers and the goal of continuing the advancement of sustainable agriculture.

“Farmers planting Enlist E3 soybeans want choice when it comes to herbicides, and that is one of the key benefits the Enlist Weed Control System provides,” said David Kloppenburg, Category Leader, Row Crop Herbicides at Corteva Agriscience. “Using multiple effective modes-of-action post-emergence helps farmers keep their fields clean of tough, broadleaf weeds. As part of a program approach to weed control in Enlist E3 soybeans, Liberty 200 SN Herbicide is Corteva’s recommended glufosinate for use with the Enlist Weed Control System.”

“Our collaboration with Corteva underlines BASF’s commitment to provide growers with this systems approach for improved weed control,” said Chris Vander Kant, Corn, Soybeans and Horticultural Crop Manager, BASF Canada Agricultural Solutions. “Liberty 200 SN Herbicide contains a unique mode of action that helps to control tough glyphosate resistant weeds and its unique formulation, designed for glufosinate ammonium tolerant soybeans, including Enlist E3, will make it an excellent tank mix partner for Enlist 1 for improved post emerge weed control.”

Better control via multiple modes of action

Corteva Agriscience and BASF recommend farmers use a program approach for Enlist E3 soybeans that includes starting with effective residual herbicides, followed by an effective post-emergent herbicide program. Enlist 1 and Liberty 200 SN Herbicide offer a strong combination when used together, especially on weeds like Waterhemp and Canada fleabane, that are now glyphosate resistant in many soybean fields. By using this combination on the same acre, farmers can access improved weed control while helping sustain the long-term efficacy of both herbicides.

Collaboration is essential to successfully driving advances in sustainable agriculture. BASF and Corteva are proud to launch this collaboration, supporting Canadian farmers, helping to ensure they have the tools needed to grow success today and tomorrow.
